Massage Company has announced that it has welcomed another franchisee to its network who will be offering his services across the Midlands.

Redundancy can be a scary situation and lots of us struggle to know what to do once we’ve lost our job. However, enterprising Sunny Sachdev from Leicester seized the opportunity and decided to invest in one of the UK’s most exciting franchises.

Taking his generous redundancy payment, he invested in spa franchise The Massage Company and has now opened his first location in the town of Sutton Coldfield.

Sunny explained how he took the unfortunate redundancy as an opportunity to start again as a franchisee.

“I saw my redundancy not as the end of my career but as the beginning of a new adventure as a franchisee. Membership massage is commonplace in the US where its benefits are understood, but it is a new concept here in the UK. The lure of joining a franchise that is new to the market is exciting and I am looking forward to bringing the membership massage model to The Midlands.”

Founder Elliot Walker explained how The Massage Company is aiming to change the way us Brits view massages, turning them into a self-care essential rather than a pricey luxury. He explained:

“We do really, really good quality massages and specialise in the four most popular forms of massage – deep tissue, sports, Swedish and maternity. We focus just on those four treatments. We are the McDonald’s of massage. Our massage therapists are trained to NVQ level three and we then do our own three-year training course [Advanced Massage Training Programme]. They have to pass a test before they can offer any treatments to paying customers. We want happy therapists that can give great massages.”

Walker also explained how he’s aiming to emulate the massage industry boom in the UK with his franchise concept.

“This business in the US is a huge industry that didn’t exist 15 years ago. Our health and beauty industry looks similar to what the US’s did 15 years ago. There is nobody in the UK that specialises in massage other than us. What we are trying to do is make customers understand that massage is not a treat or a luxury but is part of an everyday lifestyle.”

The new location was opened by Sutton Coldfield’s Deputy Mayor, Jane Mosson, and it’s now open for business.
