Marston’s invite fans to brewery in celebration of the unofficial holiday.

Marston’s, a leading brewery franchise, threw open its doors to celebrate ‘Beer Day Britain’, bringing together beer lovers from across the nation.

The day is inspired by the year 1215, when the Magna Carta was signed. The historic agreement mentions standardising measures for ale in article 35 and it’s a detail that many feel is worth a day of celebration.

This is the fourth annual celebration and Marston’s decided to mark the day by inviting fans into its Burton brewery to get an inside look at its brewing process, which has been perfected over the last 130 years. Beer enthusiasts were treated to a tour of the brewery as well as an evening of beer tasting classes, with Marston’s exclusive range of ales on offer for fans to sample.

Patrick McGinty, Head Brewer at Marston's explained why the brewery decided to host the event. "In honour of Britain's national drink, we'll be hosting an evening of brewery tours, tutoring beer tastings with our brewing team and championing beers from in and around Burton."

The day was established to try and encourage more people to try real British beers and raise the profile of the drink. Across the country, places that were participating took part in a nationwide ‘cheers to beer’ at exactly 7pm and those celebrating could use the hashtag ‘cheerstobeer’ to connect with other beer lovers online.

With six breweries producing over 60 of the nation’s best loved ales and over 1,700 franchised pubs across the UK, Marston’s is one of the UK’s most popular pub chains and beer brewers. Its locations are versatile, with them taking the roles of good old fashioned locals, family pubs and fashionable city centre locations that are perfect for any occasion.
