As the recession deterred investors from the money markets, Mail Boxes Etc in Edinburgh turned its attention to art, antiques and upscale whiskies. Today, its specialised business in shipping art, collectables and antiques all over the world has hit its 10,000th shipment mark. This shipment includes a rare book of Illustrations by Edmund Dulac, A Fairy Garland, published in London by Cassell & Company and in New York by Charles Scribner’s Sons, in 1928. This exquisite book was by purchased Craig Talsma, a private collector, who after following the recommendations of the auctioneer to use Mail Boxes Etc, said: “It has been a great experience dealing with your friendliness and prompt attention to service my needs. Bidding on items from overseas can be a little nerve-racking when the auction house itself does not provide shipping options. You have stepped up with great, fast, and friendly service to get my items delivered. Thank you from your customer overseas in the US!”

Mike Smith, a Mail Boxes Etc Edinburgh partner added: “We were delighted to be able to ship Mr Talsma’s item entirely free-of-charge as a special commemoration of our 10,000th shipment. We’re pleased and proud that he found our service so helpful.”

Mail Boxes Etc Edinburgh is run by partners Mike Smith, David Hastings, Dag Docherty and John-Erik Docherty who, 15 years ago, saw a golden opportunity to carve a niche in the art world, shipping services for art and valuable items. Some of their recent shipments have included a First Edition of Darwin’s On the Origin of Species, a painting by Dali, sketches by Picasso and 70 bottles of whisky worth over £52,000.

MBE Edinburgh is highly recommended by major auction houses such as Lyon and Turnball whom congratulated MBE Edinburgh on their milestone shipment: “Having worked with the team at Mailboxes Etc Edinburgh for nearly 10 years, they would definitely be one of the first companies we would recommend for the packing and shipping of antiques – covering all areas from fine jewellery to delicate ceramics. Mailboxes Edinburgh have the experience to safely deliver our buyers’ latest acquisitions wherever they are in the world. A well-deserved congratulations on their 10,000th shipment from the team at Lyon & Turnbull.”
