Leisure Leagues players represent their country

A group of skilled Leisure Leagues players will be taking to the world stage in an international amateur football tournament.
A bunch of Wales’ most talented amateur footballers have been chosen to represent their nation in an international 5-a-side tournament. They’ll be aiming to emulate the unexpected success of Wales’ national team at the 2016 Euros and have their sights set on the crown when they fly out to Crete in October.
Manager of the Wales team and experienced Leisure Leagues man, Barry John, announced the team that will represent their country at the amateur World Cup in Rethmyno. Joining assistant manager Owain Green and coaches Will Morris and Lewis John will be players Luke Jones, Matt Morris, Hakeem Farey, Louis Gerrard, Marcus Jones, Shaun Williams, Akeem Cullen, Adam Orme, Tyrell Webbe, Dean Maynard and Laurent Mondo.
John expressed his excitement at the upcoming tournament and said:
“We have had many selection meetings and after all the soul searching and tough choices, we are delighted to announce the squad that will hopefully fire the Welsh Dragons glory.”
He explained that there will be more sessions to fine tune each player’s skill before they set off, which will see another lucky player join the squad.
“We will be adding one more player to the squad after the next session. I believe it was important to give everyone the best chance to show what they could offer.”
James Coe, Head of TV production at the football franchise, will be heading off to Crete to capture the live action. He expressed his excitement ahead of the thrilling tournament.
‘’It is fabulous to see so many Leisure league players, ordinary lads from our network, being given the chance to represent their countries like this. We are sure they will do us and Wales proud, but more importantly, perhaps, inspire others in our network to know what can be achieved only through us.”
