A Kumon franchisee in The Woodlands, Texas has joined the franchise after looking for new career opportunities in the education sector.
Inba enjoyed her job as a Montessori Teacher, working under the educational framework developed by Italian physician Maria Montessori. She loved being around children and closely following the principles set out in the effective teaching method. But when the pandemic hit, she began to investigate new career options.
Having already used Kumon for education within her own family, Inba knew its values mirrored her own, focussing on independent practice so children can learn at their own pace.
While finding out more about the education franchise, Inba met with Vickie Huckabay, who owned Kumon’s centre in The Woodlands. After managing the business for 27 years, Vickie had decided it was time to sell up, and Inba was interested in taking on the successful unit. She completed the Kumon Programme to become a certified instructor and officially became the business’s owner this month.
The centre has introduced several new features to help students continue studying and improving their grades throughout the pandemic. At the moment, it offers a hybrid model, delivering classes with social distancing measures as well as Zoom video calls. Children take part in Kumon sessions twice a week, and they can choose whether to attend in person or stay at home for their learning.
With limited managerial experience, Inba has proven the effectiveness of the franchise’s business model. She said,
“I am no businesswoman. I am a teacher. But I am confident that Kumon’s established franchise programme will help me successfully run the business.”
Now, Inba is enthusiastic about kick-starting her new career as a business owner with Kumon. To find out how you can get involved with the franchise, visit its profile page, linked above.
