The project ran from Monday 26th July to Friday 27th August, and over 1000 children took part across three Doncaster locations.

By now, Kixx has been able to gather the data and properly reflect on the amazing success of its Community Staycation project, which happened over the summer between Monday 26th July and Friday 27th August, spanning five weeks and 375 hours of face-to-face delivery across three venues (Bentley, Armthorpe and Rossington). In the words of the football franchise, “The Kixx Community Staycation project over the summer holidays was an incredible and inspiring success for all involved.”

904 children and young people on free school meals attended, in addition to over 200 children not on free school meals, and according to Kixx, “Kixx Community Staycation provided a large menu of diverse physical, sporting, educational and enrichment activities to ensure our programme offered something to the widest possible range of children - regardless of age, gender, social or cultural background.”

The project was supported by “a number of incredible Doncaster organisations”. Kixx thanked South Yorkshire Police, the South Yorkshire PCC, and Doncaster Council for their collaborative support, before praising all the following activity providers, expressing that the franchise was “so humbled by the incredible community response and togetherness on this fantastic project”:

  • Armthorpe Welfare FC
  • Bentley Colliery Cricket Club
  • Bounce Around
  • Caged Steel Martial Arts and Caged Steel
  • Danum Eagles Basketball Club
  • Doncaster Martial Arts Centre
