Home Instead has launched its second annual week celebrating those working in the care sector.
Senior Care franchise Home Instead has kicked off its ‘You Can Care’ campaign that aims to celebrate those who take on roles in the care sector and encourage more people to consider a career in care.
The rollout of the initiative follows the success of 2018’s social media campaign, which saw hundreds of people share their inspirational stories about working in care using the hashtag #YouCanCare. There was also a ‘You Can Care’ week, which aimed to educate the public about what a career in care might mean for them. It was clearly a success, as more than 5,500 new caregivers joined the franchise over the course of the year.
Now, with the backing of MP Caroline Dinenage, who is the Minister of State for Care, Home Instead is gearing up to launch another week celebrating those who provide care. Dinenage said:
“Care work is a hugely rewarding career which has a real impact on people’s lives, supporting them to enjoy their later years. It’s great to see a home care business which is so passionate about helping older people age well. Quality care like this plays a crucial role in enabling older people to stay living healthily and happily at home for longer.”
Managing Director Martin Jones explained why recruiting more dedicated staff into caring roles was so important.
“As our population continues to age, more older people will need support to live well at home for longer. In turn, we need more kind and compassionate people to care for them which is why we are working hard to attract new people into the role of caring.”
Caregiver for the franchise, Celia Jenkins, encouraged others to enter the sector, saying:
“When care is done the right way – not rushed visits and really focusing on the person and building a relationship with them – it is one of the most rewarding jobs ever. I completely love my job. I love the feeling of making a difference to an older person’s life and to simply bring a smile to their day.”
2019’s #YouCanCare week will launch on the 25th of February and each day will have a different theme. Home Instead is encouraging people to visit its website for more details on how to get involved.
