The business coaching franchise helping organisations and teams across the UK to grow and thrive recently offered some of its expertise in the form of twenty succinct, smart tips.

Go M.A.D. Thinking has been helping its clients to achieve transformative results since its inception in 1997, and the business coaching franchise is packed with relevant experience and expertise. Recently, Go M.A.D. Thinking shared some of this expertise with its customers, offering them twenty top tips for the achievement of effective coaching. They are as follows:

  1. “Plan in time.”
  2. Put the client first and “suspend your own agenda”.
  3. Help the client better understand their environment and their inner self.
  4. “Adapt your language, style and vocal tone to suit each person you coach.”
  5. Listen, notice and ask good questions.
  6. Coach with “prompts in your mind”.
  7. Have passion for what you do, and for “helping others to make a difference”.
  8. Believe that clients are always “capable of achieving more”.
  9. Let the client do the thinking.
  10. Separate out your own thoughts and feelings during coaching.
  11. Take a solution-focused approach.
  12. Recognise that coaches “may also feel challenged”.
  13. Accept the mistakes of the client - they are learning.
  14. Learn to recognise “unhelpful thinking” in coaches.
  15. Keep learning and practising.
  16. “Encourage individuals to take personal responsibility for making notes.”
  17. “Ask for feedback from the people you coach.”
  18. Look out for opportunities to coach in “informal conversations”.
  19. “Ask the right questions to the right person at the right time.”
  20. “Celebrate success!”
