Leisure DB’s 2018 State of the Industry reports are out and Fitness Space has been named the UK’s 17th largest fitness operator.

Fitness Space has been named as the UK’s 17th largest fitness operator by Leisure DB’s 2018 State of Industry report. Boutique and service-orientated, Fitness Space aims to make sure its members never have to train alone.

The brand has had stellar growth in the last 12 months, opening up 14 new locations and expanding faster than any other brand outside of the top ten operators. This means that it is bucking the industry growth trend.

Fitness Space did not quite reach its percentage growth target for the year of 0.7%, but private club membership has continued to grow year-on-year since 2012.

The brand puts its success down to the popularity of its concept as well as the business opportunity that it offers owners. Members have access to a ‘digitally integrated fitness experience’ in state-of-the-art studios, where a dedicated fitness coach can build tailored programmes for them. The franchise model provides consistent and sustainable revenue opportunities in addition to membership sales.

“In the last 12 months Fitness Space has grown exponentially, and it is a huge accolade to be recognised as a top 20 fitness operator,” said Tim Benjamin, founder of Fitness Space.

“Our boutique studios provide a digitally integrated, supportive, service-orientated environment for members, and the proven popularity has helped to accelerate our growth across the UK. With more choice for consumers than ever before, fitness operators have to work hard to ensure their brand and concept remains attractive to members and competitive. We are continually focused on evolving our model and expect to open a further 12 studios in 2018.”

Fitness Space Wimbledon franchise owner, Hashim Alsaidi, said that it was the brand’s unique business model and expert team that compelled him to get involved:

“Since opening in January 2018, our membership base is growing fast, and with the support of the Fitness Space brand, we have been successfully marketing ourselves to establish our position as a leading gym in the Wimbledon area.”
