The franchise recently shared some very helpful expert tips with customers via a blog post on the FASTSIGNS website exploring exactly how to devise an effective signage plan.

FASTSIGNS specialises in selling, marketing, producing and installing visual communications, and in the words of the sign franchise, “‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ is not an adage you should consider when designing a business signage plan. A sign may very well be the first contact a prospect has with your brand, so make sure it's a good one.” The franchise went on, as the blog post continued, to share the following tips for creating an effective signage plan:

  • Put the plan “into writing” and review it at least on a quarterly basis
  • Determine “metrics to monitor and measure” the success of signage
  • “Create a budget” that includes both interior and exterior signage
  • Carefully consider what is trying to be communicated at all times
  • Plan for the ideal customer experience
  • “Don’t be afraid to think outside the box”
  • Be bold wherever possible - “in colour, context and installation”
  • “Consider optimum lighting and visibility” when choosing appropriate signage
  • “Go digital with kiosks, LED signs, digital menu boards and more”
  • Don’t rush into the design phase “without carefully planning ahead”
  • Consider the right amount of information to include - too much can be confusing, as can too little
  • Consider “designs, colours or fonts” that truly fit the brand/product/service
  • Don’t attempt “to blend into a surrounding environment”
  • Don’t underspend or use “cheap materials that won’t withstand time or environment”
