Envirovent brings listed building into 21st century

Envirovent has installed its innovative products into one of Liverpool’s most historic buildings to provide extra comfort to its new residents.
Keeping older buildings warm can be a struggle, as they have cavernous spaces that eat up traditional heating solutions. However, the Ogden’s Tobacco building in Liverpool, which was built in around 1899, should no longer be plagued by massive heating bills, thanks to A/C and ventilation franchise Envirovent.
The grade II building was recently converted into 19 social housing apartments and Envirovent were enlisted to install mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) units to minimise condensation and heat loss. Its innovative energiSava units constantly track levels of humidity to ensure that rooms do not become too humid and damp.
If they detect even tiny changes in the humidity levels, they react to increase air flow through rooms, stopping dangerous black mould from growing and causing a health risk. The units also work to reduce heating bills, as they heat the incoming air to ensure that rooms are kept at an optimum temperature.
Keith Walton, Envirovent’s new-build manager, commented on why the MVHR units are popular among social housing providers.
“These MVHR units are renowned for their reliability and are the ideal solution for enhancing indoor air quality and space heating at this refurbished historic building. Our MVHR systems are widely used by social housing providers for major refurbishments and within new builds to reduce issues of condensation and mould growth in properties, with all the associated health benefits for occupants.”
Peter Henerty, from Housing Maintenance Solutions, explained why Envirovent were chosen.
“It was very important that we specified a ventilation solution that would create a high level of indoor air quality in our homes as part of enhancing the health and wellbeing of our residents. We have specified EnviroVent’s systems for many years, so were aware of the high performance and low maintenance of the units and the technical support that the company provides.”
