As one of the UK’s leading creperie franchises has sights on expansion, its founder Daniel Spinath secures an investment from BGF that will make it all possible.
With 15 outlets throughout the UK and a growing franchise in the Middle East, BGF’s £2m investment will lead Crêpeaffaire to triple in size. Rapid growth is not a foreign concept for entrepreneur and founder, Daniel Spinath who launched his delicious crepe-flipping venture in 2008, serving sweet and savoury crepes, waffles, coffees and smoothies all day long for food-to-go and sit in customers. Crepeaffaire’s first London site was a quick service eatery that spread across London and other location in the UK like wildfire. With sites in Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds and Chester, the creperie franchise has generated over £5m in revenue in 2017, with system sales hitting the £10m mark.
After securing the £2m investment package from the bank-owned BGF (Business Growth Fund), the crepe franchise group’s expansion across the UK and overseas is underway. Andrew Guy has been appointed as non-executive chairman who will be tasked to expand the chain’s portfolio in the UK and overseas. With over 30 years’ experience operating pub, food and restaurants across the UK, Europe and the US, including Frankie & Benny’s and HMSHost, Guy is also non-executive Chairman backed The Coaching Inn Group.
When asked to comment on the good news, Spinath said: “This is a really exciting time for Crêpeaffaire. We’ve grown steadily during the past 10 years and are now ready to accelerate our expansion and drive brand awareness, both in the UK and internationally.
"BGF is providing an initial investment but more importantly has come on board as a long-term, non-controlling partnership. We are pleased to be working with them in the next stage of our growth plan.”
BGF investor, Jon Simon, added: “Daniel and his team have created an offering and brand that is differentiated and scalable. It caters to a wide audience, providing both healthy and indulgent products, at an attractive price point. We look forward to supporting Crêpeaffaire through its next phase of UK and International growth.”
