Century21 shares top home-buyer questions

Century21 has revealed the questions that you should be asking when it’s time to buy a brand new home.
Buying a home can be confusing, as there’s so much to think about beyond the price and the number of bedrooms it has. Luckily, estate agent and property franchise Century21 has shared the top questions it recommends any buyer asks before taking the plunge and buying a property.
Firstly, Century21 says it’s important to establish why the seller is moving. If concerns like noise, bad neighbours or the street’s incompatibility with family life crop up, the property may not be right for you. Similarly, it advises finding out what the neighbourhood is like to make sure it fits with what you’re looking for. For example, a young couple that like to party might be bored in a quiet area, while a family aren’t likely to enjoy living close to student accommodation.
It’s good to find out how long the property has been on the market, as you might be able to negotiate on price if it’s been there for a long time. Century21 then advises finding out if the property in question needs any work, making sure that vital aspects such as the walls, windows, roof and the electrics are intact. If they’re not, you need to think about whether you’re willing to commit to extensive renovation works.
Make sure you also find out about the strength of the services in the area, including how much phone signal you get, how good the broadband is and which council tax band the property is in. Finally, Century21 says that you should find out what is included in the sale aside from the structure of the house, such as furniture, fixture and fittings (if you can see it, you’re allowed to ask if it’s included).
