Century 21 expands into Guyana

Century 21’s newest franchisee has opened up the first of the brand’s branches in Guyana, South America.
The property franchise is the biggest real estate business in the world, with a network of over 7,700 offices employing more than 121,000 agents. Guyana has become the 84th country to welcome its own Century 21 office. The new branch is situated on the lower floor of the Pegasus Hotel and should provide jobs for around 15 people.
Afa Jamal Zada is the franchisee behind the business’s launch, having signed a 25-year franchise agreement. The investor has four years of real estate experience and is now on the lookout for talented agents to represent her branch.
The decision to partner with Century 21 was a deliberate and carefully considered move for Zada. She’s optimistic about the future of Guyana’s oil industry, and expects to see many big brands moving to the region in the coming years. She explained:
“I believe that Guyana is going to have a big future... So you are going to see [in the] next 20-30 years, international, older brands will come there. The hotel brands and so [on]. So, oil activities will pump up all the different infrastructure, hotels, real estate…”
Zada hopes to bring the American business approach to Guyana:
“In Guyana, the main goal is to bring the US culture of real estate here and to help the real estate agents by sharing my experience, because I know a lot of Guyanese in overseas countries and even the locals who are in Guyana. They will increase their real estate and other business experiences with us.”
In the future, Zada intends to open additional Century 21 offices. She added:
“The entire country of Guyana, as well as the northern mainland of South America, is growing, and by affiliating with the Century 21 system, I see an amazing opportunity to grow with it. So I am looking forward to establishing a healthy, beautiful, successful relationship in Guyana and increasing the real estate demand there. We will do great stuff there.”
