Cafe2U has revealed the story of one of its franchisees, Maulik Patel, who runs the Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield branch.
Maulik has been a Cafe2U franchisee for almost two years, and before he invested in the business, he was a manager of a series of Costa Coffee stores.
When he first registered his interest with the coffee van franchise Cafe2U, Maulik didn’t have a driver’s licence, and quickly had to book in a test. Thankfully, he passed and was able to leave his last day of franchisee training in a brand-new business van, just a few hours after getting his licence.
But despite Maulik’s steep learning curve, he’s been able to develop a thriving business. He starts the day at around 7:45am and finishes at 3:30pm, and has been more profitable than ever during lockdown. As a franchisee, Maulik doesn’t give his customers an excuse to go elsewhere for their caffeine fix, so his products are always of a high quality.
The hardworking franchisee is also dedicated to giving his customers a reason to leave their work for five minutes, providing fun and laughter alongside his tasty food offering. In between lockdowns, Maulik has seen success catering to key workers and blue collar employees, and is in the process of looking for more opportunities in these areas.
He commented on how customers are becoming more supportive of local businesses, opting to shop at small outlets as opposed to national chains. At a time when the economy is suffering, people are often keen to help out business owners in their local area.
Now, Maulik is working to maintain his franchise unit’s performance, and hopes to get married and find a home for him and his wife this year. We wish him all the best for his future with Cafe2U!
