The mobile coffee franchise is passionate about the environment, and will be celebrating this annual awareness-raising event until Sunday the 10th of October.

Cafe2U’s Green Coffee Fortnight is one of the many ways that the coffee van franchise dedicates itself to sustainability and environmental friendliness. This is the third year that Green Coffee Fortnight has been celebrated and, in 2021, it spans from September 27th to October 10th. The aim is to raise crucial awareness about all the ways in which companies and customers alike can do better and become more green.

To celebrate the event, Cafe2U recently shared some of its own new initiatives. For one, the mobile coffee chain is introducing compostable paper cups. In the words of the franchise, “We've already kicked off this year's celebrations by unveiling the world's first all-electric coffee van, which will help reduce our CO2 emissions and carbon footprint. But that's not all - to help minimise our paper use, we're also launching a range of compostable paper cups.”

Compostable cups are biodegradable and can be composted or recycled, “reducing waste and ensuring fewer items are sent to landfill”. Since Cafe2U knows that people in the UK drink approximately 95 million cups of coffee every day, it knows that this small swap can have a huge impact. Similarly, the franchise also plans to become completely paper-free by 2022.

Last but not least, Cafe2U was proud to introduce its coffee grounds recycling scheme. Used coffee grounds can be used in many different ways: Repelling insects, making fertiliser, helping compost heaps, eliminating smells, cleaning pans and so on. So, “Throughout Green Coffee Fortnight, we're giving customers the opportunity to take our used coffee grounds away with them absolutely free.” To find out more about franchising with Cafe2U and launching your own sustainable coffee franchise, visit its profile page, linked above.
