Subway is really making its mark in Bristol and is set to open yet another outlet
Bristolians clearly love Subway. There are already 40 in the city, with 97 spread across Bristol, Gloucester, Somerset and Wiltshire. So when another opportunity to bring even more subs to the city came up, Subway took it.
This latest addition to the Subway empire will be in a former HSBC bank on a busy road on the outskirts of the city. But what’s most interesting about the location is that it’s opposite the Brislington Retail Park – which is already home to a Subway outlet. That means this new addition will be directly opposite, raising questions over why the franchisee has chosen this location.
The clue lies in the property sale. The former bank site sold for more than the £400,000 asking price, showing just how popular the retail opportunity was. It’s clear that the premises were sought after, and Subway knows its popularity will bring in the business – even if there is already one directly opposite. And with popularity so high, it could give customers the chance to simply choose the outlet with the shortest queue!
Subway is ‘hugely proud’ about its latest outlet. A Subway spokesperson said, “the modern design will offer customers more of what they love about Subway stores – highlighting our baked bread in store daily, cookies and some of our veggies in modern displays”.
It hasn’t yet been announced when it will open, but plans for the redesign of the former HSBC building are well underway.
This new store will join more than 44,000 across the world. The first Subway store opened in 1965 and it has since grown astronomically, becoming a franchise in 1974 to achieve the significant growth the owners had their eyes set on. There are nearly 2,400 Subway outlets in the UK, and the brand has no plans to stop growing any time soon. Famed for its foot-long sub sandwiches, Subway produces a range of fillings and sandwiches in different sizes. It also offers salads, snacks and packs to suit children.
