Local Swindon groups that support older people in the area could get a grant from Bluebird Care.

Bluebird Care, a homecare provider, is giving back to the local community by offering a £250 grant for charities, groups and organisations that support elderly people in Swindon. The aim is to encourage other organisations that provide assistance to older people to continue their hard work.

While Bluebird Care offers homecare, it recognises the huge help that other organisations provide to the local community, assisting older people with different needs.

This is the third time that Bluebird Care has offered the grant. Following the success of the previous years, it is pleased to be able to reach out a helping hand to other organisations.

It has asked groups to apply for the grant and provide details of why it needs the additional support and what it will use the funds for.

It also added that it was especially interested in organisations working in dementia or mental health for older people. Though, Bluebird Care says that other groups shouldn’t be discouraged because it welcomes applications of all kinds.

Along with the £250 grant, the successful organisation will benefit from support and advice from Bluebird Care. As a nationwide franchise, it has a huge amount of expertise to share and it promises to offer practical business advice as well as guidance on the care industry.

Ben Curtis, Managing Director of Bluebird Care said, “we want to work with a local project that gives older people an opportunity to try something new and that will add a benefit to their lives. Examples of the types of projects we are looking for could include gardening, leisure, recreational, help with day trips or musical activities”.

Previous groups that have been awarded the grant include Eastcott Community Organisation to help fund its fortnightly afternoon teas for older people, and Crickdale Open Door, to provide equipment for the activities it arranges for older people.

Organisations have until the 1st June 2018 to submit their applications.

Bluebird Care started out as a small family business in 2004. It is now one of the largest homecare providers in the UK, visiting around 20,000 customers every day.
