In the capable hands of owners Paul and Jo Hamilton, Blossom was thrilled to announce that this branch had won the most prestigious prize at the Teesdale Business Awards.

In the words of the home care franchise, “Being voted the best local business in your second year of trading is extraordinary - and for that to happen in a pandemic when you’re the pioneering franchise in a network is nothing short of astonishing. But that’s what Paul and Jo Hamilton, owners of Blossom Home Care in Teesdale and Weardale, have achieved.” Paul and Jo came to their investment in Blossom, as the network’s very first franchisees, with successful careers in other fields under their belts. Paul was an IT manager and Jo was a district nurse. Paul explained of their choice to invest, “We could have just carried on with a comfortable life, but chose instead to do something we could look back on with pride.”

But why Blossom? Jo had previously worked with Co-Founder Fiona, developing that crucial bond of trust, and both Jo and Paul agreed that the support standard provided by Blossom Home Care was unmatched. In Paul’s words, “The whole set-up of Blossom is fantastic. [...] Blossom’s support covers staff training, accreditation, CQC registration, office set-up and ongoing monitoring of every aspect of the care service and its administration which all must be to the Blossom standard. And the Blossom standard is the best.”

At the Teesdale Business Awards, Paul and Jo were acknowledged for their dedication to quality care in the face of COVID and location-based challenges like “serving a scattered community with a very low population density”. Paul said, “One of the judges at the awards said we were head and shoulders above the rest in terms of management of the business as we’ve demonstrated great growth in our first year, we manage the business and look after our staff perfectly, and we’ve shown a massive resilience to get through these last 12 months.”

Paul concurred, expressing, “The fact that we have made it here proves Blossom’s business model works, it proves the need for care here, and it proves beyond all doubt that with hard work and determination you can build a successful care business in a sparsely-populated area.” If you’d like to launch your own Blossom Home Care branch in 2022, you can find out more about the franchise via its profile page, which you’ll discover linked above.
