Blossom franchisee to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Society
Press Release , writer
Being a Blossom Home Care business owner is about much more than just delivering best-in-class care to your clients.
We also believe owning one of our franchises enables you to be a force for good, not just within your community, but also in carrying out immensely worthwhile endeavours.
This included raising life-saving funds for a local charity and partnering with a League Two football club to develop their elderly-focused community initiatives.
The latest example comes from Amy Shearsmith, the owner and operator of Blossom in the town of Beverley, Yorkshire. Amy and her team will be participating in the Hull Memory Walk on 21 September 2024 in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society – a cause that resonates deeply.
“We have a lot of clients who suffer with this horrendous disease, so we hope that coming together as a team to raise as much money as possible will help the cause,” explains Amy.
“We are finding that more and more clients are starting with us with dementia. And unfortunately we see the deterioration of clients over time through delivering our care. Age UK is now in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, and we regularly attend the Age UK coffee mornings with our clients. So it seemed the perfect match to be able to raise funds to help research and raise awareness of this cruel disease.
“It will also be an opportunity for us to share memories about clients we have lost to dementia and Alzheimer’s.
“We do something every year that is relevant to what is going on with our clients. Last year we did Pretty Muddy for Breast Cancer Research, this year it’s Alzheimer’s, and next year we are looking at doing something for Marie Curie.”
The Beverley team is aiming to raise at least £500 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
