Barking Mad’s Fife franchisees were named as lucky winners at the 2019 BFA HSBC Franchise Awards.
Two Barking Mad franchisees walked away with a highly coveted prize at the 2019 BFA HSBC Franchise Awards, showing that it’s one of the most exciting franchise opportunities in the country.
John and Elaine Warburton, who own the Fife location of the pet and dog franchise, were named as Franchisees of the Year in the Lifestyle category. Former marketing director John and ex-police officer and fitness instructor Elaine made the decision to open their very own Barking Mad franchise and haven’t looked back since. The couple now enjoy their time as professional dog-sitters, counting plenty of dog cuddles as a massive perk of the job, and are on track to achieve a turnover of £400,000 in just five years.
The married pair were thrilled to be honoured with the award and Elaine expressed their delight at the deserved recognition.
“The entire awards journey has been fantastic and we are honoured to have been a part of it. We truly believe that Barking Mad has changed our lives, it certainly has mine, having such a positive impact on my mental health. We sincerely hope that others will be inspired to follow their dreams just like we did.”

“Working as Barking Mad Fife & Kinross’ owner with Elaine has been the best decision we have ever made!”
Head of HSBC’s franchising department and presenter of the awards Andrew Brattesani commented on the win.
“John and Elaine are living the dream working for Barking Mad. Working with animals all day and looking after their own gives them great pleasure, and for them to make a successful business out of this is testament to their hard work and passion.”
