A Barking Mad franchise in Alnwick has come out on top thanks to its impressive fundraising efforts
Barking Mad in Alnwick, Northumberland, is currently sitting at the top of the franchise’s charity-fundraiser leader board, as each of its locations in the UK compete for the coveted top spot.
The dog care franchise, which pairs dogs with specially chosen host families to look after them while their owners are away, encourages its franchisees to try and raise money for worthy causes. Barking Mad officially partnered with charity Dogs for Good UK at the beginning of 2018 and hopes to support the worthy cause so that it can continue its amazing work training dogs to assist the severely disabled. Through the fundraising efforts of each one of its franchisees, the company has donated nearly £10,000 to the fantastic charity so far.
Each branch of the dog sitting franchise has been competing to see who can raise the highest amount for the charity and the Alnwick location, run by Tina Young, is currently in pole position. Her team’s fundraising efforts have included hosting cake sales, raffles, a tombola and selling dog biscuits and they’ve managed to raise an incredible £705.
Commenting on the achievement, Tina said:
“I’m thrilled to learn that the [money] we have raised so far has pushed us into the position of top dog in England. The charity trains dogs to support people with disabilities, including children with autism, in order to enrich and improve lives.”
Founded in 2000 when franchisor Lee Dancy recognised the need for a kinder alternative to traditional kennels, Barking Mad has grown to have more than 80 locations across the country. Pairing each pup with a host family, their likes, dislikes and normal routine will be noted so that your beloved pet can enjoy a holiday with minimum distress while you jet off to the sun.
