Auntie Anne’s pretzel truck organises fundraiser

An Auntie Anne’s pretzel truck will raise money for local non-profit organisation, Friends of Sinners, in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Samantha Hardesty, who owns the Auntie Anne’s truck with her family, will be selling pretzels in the Owensboro area from 11am to 6pm on Monday 18th January. Some of the proceeds of the sales will go to Friends of Sinners (FoS). The religious group runs recovery programmes for those struggling with substance abuse.

Jordan Wilson, FoS’s Development Director said,

“This is a big deal for us. Fundraisers and monthly donors are how we keep our doors open. Knowing that we have support not only within Owensboro, but also outside of Owensboro just reminds us that the work we do is being appreciated.

“We hope that the community will come buy a pretzel and meet some of our clients. That way, they will be able to see exactly who they are supporting.”

Despite only launching the takeaway franchise truck last February, Samantha and her family have already seen success. In fact, they’ve already donated almost $35,000 (£25,600) to non-profit organisations across Kentucky and southern Indiana.

This fundraising initiative will be the first of many in the Owensboro area. Samantha explained,

“We look for people that are good fundraising partners. They are in need of the funds, but they have a certain mission that they are on as well… I think this is going to be the first of many stops. We’re excited about growth, but we’re also excited to be able to help other organisations that a lot of times do get overlooked when it comes to fundraising.”
