An Auntie Anne’s franchisee in the US has decided to launch a new business with a food truck, rather than a fixed store.
Dan Trickel, who already runs 11 branches of the famous takeaway franchise across Atlanta, Georgia, opted to start a mobile business in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. After seeing a reduction in the number of people visiting his stores, he decided to build a business with more flexibility.
Once the Auntie Anne’s food truck is open for business, Dan will be able to serve customers in Dawson, Forsyth, Lumpkin and other nearby areas. He explained,
“Given Covid-19 and the changing shopping experiences, we decided that we were going to bring the pretzels to the people. So, we’re going to serve our regular Auntie Anne’s menu and the truck’s home base will be in Dawson.”
Dan launched his mobile business on the 1st December and aims to provide food for local events, such as football matches and Dawsonville’s Mountain Moonshine Festival. The truck will also be available for hire by anyone in the community.
When Dan first announced the launch of his Auntie Anne’s food truck, he was surprised by the positive response he received.
“The reception actually shocked me; I decided I’d put up just a little blurb about how we’re in the process of licensing it and within 24 hours we had about 1400 likes and 200-300 comments, saying things like ‘oh my gosh this is my favorite product’, ‘I gotta have a cinnamon nugget’ and ‘can you just park it in my driveway’ — all the responses were positive and the amount of responses really did surprise us.”
Although Dan originally intended to launch a part-time business, he’s now decided to run it full-time, thanks to the overwhelming public reaction.
