Aspray franchisee celebrates one-year anniversary

Aspray’s franchisee for South London has reflected on his first year with the business.

Jack Parkhouse, who launched his Aspray branch as the pandemic began to take hold in the UK, is proudly celebrating a successful year. His management franchise unit achieved double the brand’s benchmark first year revenue of £200,000.

With extensive knowledge of the construction industry, Jack predicted he could generate around £250,000 worth of claims in his first year, but exceeded even his own targets:

“I am delighted to say I’ve had 46 claims within the first year, with an average value of about £12,500. Right now, I’m at about £460,000 claims turnover. However, I still have four or five claims that need to be costed, so it might get close to £500,000.”

Jack says the key to success is having “great interpersonal skills” and being “trustworthy and likeable”. He also believes his experience of business ownership helped him surpass his targets:

“I don’t think I’ve done anything differently to any [other Aspray franchisees]. My only advantage is having previous experience running my own business. If you can run 15-25 jobs at once, this level of turnover is very achievable. It seems like a scary idea, but when you break it down into what you need to be doing day to day, it’s manageable.”

One of Jack’s biggest challenges has been maintaining his performance during the pandemic, but Aspray’s business model provided certain advantages:

“Nothing has really slowed down the insurance sector or the Aspray service. There was a short period where construction was limited, but that couldn’t be helped. Whatever happens in the future, people are still going to need our help.”

One year on, Jack has developed a profitable and fulfilling business. He added,

“Feedback from the clients during my first year really has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the job.”
