The quintessentially British and erotic lifestyle retailer Ann Summers announced yet another great year of rock solid trading in the period ending in June 2016 with profits skyrocketing by 129% over the previous year. Despite a slight decline from £105m to £102m in turnover, the company’s operating profit for the year was £0.8m.
The winning figures bear witness to how Ann Summers strategies of refurbishment programme and a new e-commerce platform seem to have paid off. The brand’s 4 new shops and 5 refurbished stores have outperformed other stores in their portfolio and their new e-commerce platform with Demandware has delivered a new and improved shopping experience, helping drive steady customer conversion. The retailer has also seen their wholesale business grow exponentially with new partnerships such as the House of Fraser online concession.
The British multinational retailer specialising in lingerie, erotic lifestyle and accessories plan to push production innovation a notch or two by expanding on wholesale and improving the online shopping experience by overhauling its core IT infrastructure to give the web platform new functionalities. With over 140 high street stores across the UK and Ireland, plans to develop overseas and its operating profits on the rise, potential partners and franchisees are welcome to join the party.
