Angela’s Swim School has set up a new swimming programme that will introduce children to five friendly new characters.
Angela’s Swim School is launching a new creative swimming programme that will use animated characters to help get children excited and confident about swimming.
‘Swimstylers’ will be launched in 14 of the swimming school’s franchises and will introduce Caspian, Oceana, Aqua Pacific, Ultra Marine and Atlantis to children. It’s hoped that the programme will not only improve children’s skills and confidence in the water but also educate them about water safety and how exercise can reduce stress and improve their overall wellbeing.
Founder of Angela’s Swim School, former Team GB and Commonwealth swimmer Angela Wilson, was motivated to come up with the new programme after a Swim England survey found that one third of children can’t swim by the time they leave primary school. Even more worryingly, the survey revealed that only 36% of schools provide swimming lessons that meet the national curriculum standards.
Wilson explained why she wanted to launch this new programme in her franchises. “Swimming for me is not only a lifesaving skill but a life enhancing one. Everyone could benefit from being able to swim properly and it’s hugely concerning to hear frightening statistics that show so many of our children don’t have this essential skill. Swimstylers is about making swimming engaging and a priority for us all. We’re completely delighted with the response to the creative so far and have high hopes that it will make a big difference nationwide.”
The five-stage programme will be structured around the animated characters and will allow children to progress through a character badge-based system.
With 17 franchises across the UK guided by an expert international swimmer, Angela’s Swim School imparts skills and confidence to the children it teaches.
