ActionCOACH nurtures teen talent

ActionCOACH Jakarta inspired one of its clients to start a new scheme that coaches children from underprivileged backgrounds to greatness.
Many people in Indonesia live below the poverty line, making things hard for ambitious young people to succeed. However, one of ActionCOACH Jakarta’s most charitable clients, Martin Gea, has been reflecting back on how the business coaching franchise helped him to establish a school that would help Jakarta’s young people go further.
Gea founded Yayasan Prima Unggul (YPU) nearly a decade ago, which he intended to be an entrepreneurial school for children who had grown up in poverty. Speaking about how ActionCOACH inspired him to set up the school, Gea said:
"ActionCOACH inspired us to professionalise our non-profit organisation and believe in our dreams. The main mission of YPU is to break the cycle of poverty in Indonesia through Entrepreneurial-based Education. We teach students vocational skills and the right mindset. They learn that a meaningful life starts with contributing to others."
He revealed that the school has produced plenty of alumni who have gone onto higher education, secured excellent jobs and even developed businesses of their own, which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of ActionCOACH Jakarta.
Speaking about the incredible success of YPU under the guidance of the coaching franchise, Prijono Nughroho, Managing Partner at ActionCOACH Jakarta, said:
"Yayasan Prima Unggul is our biggest success story outside the business world. We want to let people know that business coaching can create a real impact not only for corporations but for other parts of the economy including the non-profit system as well. We want donators & government committees to realize they shouldn't just hand out money to these children, but rather invest it in proper education & empowerment programs to offer a more sustainable impact towards the eradication of poverty,"
