Alice Tuffery, writer
Have you always wanted to run a steakhouse? Keep on reading to find out whether Texas Roadhouse franchise opportunities exist in the UK.
From succulent steaks to juicy burgers, grilled ribs and ‘dirty slaw’, steakhouses serve a whole host of delicious food options to satisfy even the hungriest customer. Texas Roadhouse is a favourite among American diners – but does it offer franchising opportunities for UK investors? Let’s find out.
History of Texas Roadhouse
Texas Roadhouse was launched in Clarkesville, Indiana in 1993 by a man called Kent Taylor. It established its franchising model in 1995 and, since then, over 450 locations have popped up across the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
This steakhouse has always taken pride in its offering and promotes a dinner-only concept on weekdays – a relatively unusual business model. All Texas Roadhouse steaks are hand-cut by expert butchers, but the brand also focusses on its breadmaking, hiring trained bakers to craft fresh yeast rolls every day. And although Texas Roadhouse is famous for its steaks and ‘fall-off-the-bone’ ribs, it also serves chicken and seafood options.
All Texas Roadhouse’s food is made in its restaurant kitchens, so customers can be sure they’re buying freshly cooked dishes. But diners don’t have to compromise when it comes to price. Affordability is important, so the restaurant applies maximum meal prices for each food option, which you can find on its website. And on top of all this, Texas Roadhouse strives to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere for its guests, making sure they come back again and again.

The steakhouse market in the UK
Well-done, medium or rare, steak is a favourite among Brits. A huge portion of consumers enjoy tucking into a succulent cut of meat, and the tasty meal option has found its way onto many restaurant menus. It’s a popular choice for a lot of eateries, as steaks can be served in a variety of different ways. Whether your hallmark is a signature sauce, huge portion sizes or customers searing their own steaks on hotplates, you can use your menu to stand out from the competition.
Because high-quality beef can be expensive, trips to steakhouses have become something of a ‘treat’ for many people, marking special occasions and one-off events. In fact, 25 percent of the money we spend on beef in the UK goes towards steak, which shows just how profitable a steakhouse business could be.
