History of Certax Accounting

Since being established in September 1999, Certax Accounting has expanded rapidly to occupy locations across the UK. It quickly took on the franchise model and initiated its first training course in January 2000, providing new franchisees with the skills they needed to run successful businesses.

Having been in operation for two decades now, the Certax Accounting franchise has accumulated a great deal of experience and expertise - not to mention more than 100 franchisees nationwide.

Over the years, the business has developed to carve out a niche in the financial services industry. As demand for individual and professional accountancy services has grown, it’s taken steps to meet the needs of self-employed workers, freelancers and small businesses. Clients want an accountant who can do their job in a friendly and efficient manner, on a regular basis, for a reasonable price, and Certax Accounting can fulfil this requirement.

Starting a Certax Accounting franchise unit

Certax Accounting specialises in providing high-quality services to individuals and small businesses in the UK. Franchisees have the option of working from home or opening an office and can sign up to a variety of different franchise packages. Thanks to the business’s flexible options, franchisees can tailor their investment to suit their individual requirements.

Becoming a Certax Accounting franchisee:

While you don’t need to be a fully qualified accountant to start your own Certax Accounting franchise unit, you should have some industry-specific skills. You should also be driven, committed to working under an established brand and passionate about making your business a success.

I found the training excellent and was one of the main reasons for choosing to become a Certax franchisee. The other important aspect was the level of support provided by the Technical Helpline, which is also exceptional - it is reassuring to know that they are on the other end of the phone when needed. – Phil Preedy, Certax Accounting franchisee in Richmond-upon-Thames

How much you need to invest:

Certax Accounting offers investors a choice of three different franchise packages:

  • The Qualified Accountants Package (£9,750)
  • The Bookkeeping Package (£9,995)
  • The Full Accountants Package (£19,750)

Each package varies slightly in the equipment, tuition and support it involves. This approach helps franchisees avoid paying more than they need to for elements they don’t want or need. For instance, the Full Accountants package includes accommodation, as well as a laptop and Microsoft Office software.

What you get for your investment:

In return for your investment, you’ll be given the right to trade under the Certax Accounting franchise brand and use its trademarks according to the franchise agreement guidelines. You’ll also be given access to the business’s training courses run by experienced chartered accountants who understand what you need to know if you’re to succeed in the finance industry.

Certax Accounting also provides all franchisees with four large reference manuals once they’ve completed their training. The books cover:

  • Personal and business taxation
  • Accounts
  • Standard letters
  • Marketing

Although the franchisor provides ongoing support, these four manuals should be your first point of reference if you have any questions.

The initial training period varies depending on which franchise package you choose. For instance, the Full Accountants Package is a month-long training programme involving study in the head office and remote learning. On the other hand, the Bookkeeping and Qualified Accountants packages take three days to complete and are based entirely in the franchise’s head office.

When you’re ready to launch your brand new Certax Accounting franchise unit, the leadership team will make sure you have at least 15 local business leads to pursue. So, you’re guaranteed to get off to a strong start and avoid struggling with the challenge of attracting new customers in your first few months.

What’s more, Certax Accounting makes sure all its franchisees have the knowledge and skills they need to remain competitive in the finance industry. You can rely on having access to the latest information on accountancy and taxation, so you’re always up to date with industry news. Plus, you’ll get IT support whenever you need it, and an invitation to bi-annual technical seminars, where you can mingle with other franchisees in the network.
