TaxAssist Accountants franchisee celebrates milestone

TaxAssist Accountants’ franchisee for the Galston and Kilmarnock regions is celebrating two decades of business ownership.

Barry McGougan launched his bookkeeping and accounting franchise unit near his home in Galston, West Scotland, back in 2001 and is now marking 20 years as a franchisee. His daughter, Lisa Foster, has joined the business and is looking forward to taking it on later this year when Barry retires.

The long-serving franchisee explained,

“When I look back to 2001, starting out as a fresh faced 47-year-old, I would have found it hard to imagine that I would, in 2021, be running such a successful business and looking forward to a well-earned and comfortable retirement in the near future.

“Getting to where I am now has required hard work and commitment and the patience and support of my family. But the fact that the practice has grown so well is testament to the proven business model provided by TaxAssist.”

With the help of Lisa and two other staff members, Barry runs two TaxAssist Accountants stores in Galston and Kilmarnock, and has built up a 350-strong client base. To mark the impressive milestone, the franchise sent Barry a champagne presentation case.
