Humpit Hummus gets a glowing review

Humpit Hummus’ first franchised location in Huddersfield has been given a big thumbs up by a local food journalist.
Humpit Hummus’ first location to be opened by franchisees has been given the seal of approval in a local online newspaper.
Ben Abbiss of Huddersfield Examiner Live popped along to Humpit Hummus’ Huddersfield location to check out the franchise’s tasty offerings. It was opened in early May by Laura and Dave Oldroyd, who previously owned a fishery in nearby Scholes, in a well-placed site opposite the University of Huddersfield.
Franchisee Laura Oldroyd explained why the restaurant franchise appealed to herself and Dave.
"We had been to some of their other branches and kept an eye on the business. When the opportunity came up, we did a pop-up stall at the Huddersfield Town fanzone at PPG Canalside and that went well."
Abbiss and a friend headed to the new restaurant to check out the food and reported that they were pleasantly surprised with that they discovered. Abbiss ordered a filled pitta, stuffed with red pepper hummus and a large, fiery chilli, while his friend opted for classic hummus with tomato salsa. The pair were impressed with Humpit’s ‘Subway-style’ pick-your-own bar of fresh ingredients, which allowed them to customise their pitta exactly to their tastes.
The plant-based franchise’s food was called “fresh, flavourful… and an interesting meal” and received a firm stamp of approval from the hungry journalist and his companion. It was so filling that the pair had to take their side of roasted cauliflower and tahini away with them, busting the myth that vegan food isn’t as satiating as meaty dishes.
The restaurant is Humpit’s seventh location and it’s hoped that plenty more franchisees will soon be opening their very own branch of the Middle Eastern restaurant and falafel bar.
