About Udderlicious
Franchise

In 2013, the husband and wife team behind Udderlicious, Raj & Raj, decided they wanted to make a change in their lives, and create something unique from their love of ice cream. That love has been the driving force behind the creation of their bright, colourful, and creative stores, and the dozens of incredible flavours on offer.

Udderlicious Franchise Ice Cream

The first Udderlicious store opened in Islington and was a huge success, so much so that only 2 years later, Mr & Mrs Kotecha opened a second store in a prime location in Covent Garden. Their third store in Crouch End, the most recent edition to their ice cream empire, opened in 2024.

The stores have become real destinations in themselves, not just for their many loyal customers in the local area, but also for people all over the capital and beyond, who want a taste of their now famous ice cream.

Build that future you’ve always dreamed of - one scoop at a time!

Is there anyone who doesn’t enjoy great ice cream? While Udderlicious is not the only ice cream franchise out there, there’s ice cream, then there’s Udderlicious!

  • A Product in Constant Demand - Ice creams are luxury treats and desserts that bring joy whatever the weather. Ice cream like this never goes out of style, especially with the constant addition of exciting new flavour combinations, and the vegan range available.
  • A Simple Set-up with Low Overheads - Unlike restaurants, an ice cream parlour doesn’t require expensive premises, a large staff, or complicated kit. You don’t need a big variety of food preparation and storage areas, nor do you need premises zoned for restaurant use. A simple retail unit will do!
  • A Little Local Magic - It’s all about being part of the community; creating an exciting customer experience that keeps customers coming back for more. After the ice cream itself, this care for their customers is probably the single biggest factor in their success to date.

Training and support provided

When you join the Udderlicious franchise, you’re not just buying into a great brand and proven business model, you’re also becoming a partner in every sense of the word. You will benefit from the experience and expertise gained, through the comprehensive training programme, and have everything you need to make the most of this opportunity. Your journey will start with a 3-week training plan; if you’re not planning to work in the store yourself, you will still need to attend some, if not all, of the training alongside your intended store manager.

The first week of the training is classroom based (2-3 days). You (and your Store Manager, if relevant) will then spend two weeks working in one of the Udderlicious outlets in London, and at Head Office, where you will gain practical experience of how to conduct your day-to-day operations.

Support is always available, whenever you need it, including regular calls and meetings to see how you’re doing, and at least 12 days in your first year where the team will come to visit you in your store.

With the Udderlicious franchise, you may be working for yourself, but you are never by yourself!

The Franchise Package

The initial fee for becoming partner in the Udderlicious franchise is just £20,000 (plus VAT). There are other costs to consider; leasing and outfitting your new shop, business insurance, hiring and paying staff, etc. You will also need to have a certain amount of working capital available to support yourself and cover your overheads, while your new business gets off the ground and reaches its full earning potential.

Additional costs will vary from location to location, a detailed financial breakdown based on our current outlets has been prepared, which is available on request during further discussions.

The estimated total required for set-up costs to open your Udderlicious store is around £180,000 (exclusive of VAT).

The initial franchise agreement lasts for five years, and renewable subject to certain criteria being met by the franchisee and in agreement with the franchisor.

While they do not provide financing directly, there are a number of options to help you with your investment. It may be possible to obtain funding from most major high street banks for some of the amount. There are also government funded loans which could be available, subject to status. All options can be discussed during the enquiry process.

Ongoing Costs & Earning Potential

As an Udderlicious franchisee, you’ll very much be your own boss and will enjoy all the personal and financial rewards, but there are certain costs involved in maintaining the partnership:

There is an ongoing fee of 4% of your gross turnover. The industry average fee is around 10-12%, so this is a pretty good deal!

However, Udderlicious are a franchise who very much believes in celebrating success, so franchisees who consistently go the extra mile in making their new business succeed, and score well on aspects such as Google review scores, Food Hygiene Ratings and Mystery Shopper Review scores, can expect to enjoy a reduced rate of just 3%!

The earning potential of your franchise can vary a great deal depending on location and local market. However, based on existing operations, Udderlicious is confident that you can reasonably expect to see a return on your investment as early as Year 2.

The combination of the Udderlicious proven business model, and your passion and desire to build your own business, will be a real recipe for success.

Udderlicious' history

Meet Raj and Raj, the husband and wife team behind Udderlicious

Despite Udderlicious not being their first career, the world of ice cream wasn’t entirely new for Raj and Raj. Mr Raj’s father had actually been a franchise owner with a major ice cream brand, and he spent his childhood and teenage years helping out.

Mr Raj previously worked for the British Aviation Authority; a very dynamic and rewarding role. However, he gradually became disenchanted with the corporate world, and yearned to do something different. Something that challenged him in new ways, and where he could be his own boss.

Udderlicious PF Profile History Image

Both Mr and Mrs Raj have always been crazy about ice cream, but they did not want to be franchisees themselves with another brand. They wanted to create something unique and special all of their own. Something that would stand out as a business, but also become the new passion and driving force behind their lives.

So, they bought a freezer unit and started making their own ice cream! The results were mixed at first, with some great new flavours coming out, and some not so great, but after much experimentation, and even learning from ice cream masters in Reading and Nottinghamshire, they perfected their methods and were soon producing one perfectly delicious batch of ice cream after another.

Testing out their new products on friends and family, and at local events, Raj and Raj soon realised they had hit on a winning formula and started planning their very first store. They spent nearly two years carefully planning their new business, building a brand identity, and developing new flavours. In 2013, Mr Raj left his old job behind and opened the very first Udderlicious store in Islington.

This first store was a huge success – so much so that Mrs Raj quit her job as a Deputy Head at a local school, just one year later to join the business full-time! Early in 2016, North London’s newest ice cream power couple began looking for a second site, which then opened in a prime location in Covent Garden. The second store was as big a hit as the first, and a third opened in Crouch End in 2024.

With more than 10 years of business success behind them, Raj & Raj are now looking forward to the next chapter in the Udderlicious story – one they hope to write with you by their side!
