Poppies thrives amid spring cleaning boom

Poppies is busier than ever, thanks to an increased focus on hygiene and cleanliness.

As the UK emerges from the coronavirus pandemic, spring cleaning is taking on a new importance, and franchises like Poppies have reported a spike in demand.

Chris Wootten, the cleaning franchise’s Managing Director, said,

“Spending more time indoors, people realise that a clean home can boost immunity, as well as reduce both stress and anxiety – something many have suffered from over the past year. We’ve seen that Covid-19 has triggered a growth boom in cleaning across the UK, resulting in more people seeking outside help to ensure their free time is not taken over by chores.”

Chris believes the increased demand is largely down to people struggling to cope with their many duties during the pandemic:

“There’s still a high percentage of adults (60 percent) who are balancing working from home and childcare - and, until recently, distance learning - so the demand for professional cleaners to provide a fully-managed cleaning service is rising once again.”

Responding to customer requirements, Chris developed an enhanced cleaning and sanitising method with a two-step cleaning programme last year, which will now be a permanent part of Poppies’ services.

Chris believes the cleaning sector has a busy few months ahead. He explained,

“Many people might not have completed their spring clean last year, as we had just entered the first national lockdown, so there is now more of a need and motivation to get that deep clean completed... ready for the time when we can welcome friends and extended family back into our homes.”

He added,

“Spring cleaning signifies a fresh start and I’m delighted that Poppies is leading the charge as we share positivity on a national level.”
