Poppies’ Managing Director Chris Wootton has described how the business fared in 2020.

Although the year brought widespread challenges to businesses and individuals alike, the Poppies franchise network managed to stay connected and positive.

2020 marked the domestic cleaning franchise’s 40th anniversary, and the business’s representatives were able to come together for a virtual party.

Chris said,

“Like many people, we started last year on a high, but when the pandemic presented itself, it was time to take stock and work on how to push forwards. Whilst it’s been a challenge, and a little stressful at times, I’m proud of the resilience that resonated from franchisees as they pulled together.”

During the first lockdown, the franchise experienced slow growth, but was still able to adapt its model and support clients. Before long, it was able to unveil its new two-step cleaning programme, reducing the risk of viral infection and giving customers peace of mind. As lockdown ended, Poppies was able to implement its new cleaning system across the UK.

The company was also recognised in Elite Franchise’s Top 100 ranking of the best UK franchise businesses for the second year running. Now, Chris is looking forward to a productive and profitable 2021. He said,

“We’re already seeing people prioritising cleaning in their homes, and I believe that focus will continue even post-pandemic. Because of this, combined with the desire to spend more time with wider family outside their homes as lockdown eases, I envisage an increase in demand for cleaning services.”

In 2021, Chris plans to welcome several new UK-based franchisees into the Poppies network to meet the expected rise in demand. The franchise is also working towards the roll-out of its staff and client apps to streamline the delivery of the company’s cleaning services.
