After securing a £27 million refinancing deal with Danske Bank, The Herbert Group, the largest KFC operator in central Europe, plans on expanding its network and growing its headcount to 5,000. The Belfast-headquartered group has recently acquired 27 KFC stores and with the new refinancing deal they plan on opening 20 more next year and set up a new home delivery service. This initiative will generate 80 jobs and help grow its Belfast head office with the recruitment of an additional 20 employees.
The Herbert Group currently operates 145 KFC stores in Ireland and in Britain and is controlled by one of the wealthiest men in the North, Michael Herbert. The group’s finance director, Jason Carlisle, says the latest acquisitions was a ‘strategic move’ and that the refinancing deal would yield the group with a “platform and funding structure to pursue further acquisitions”.
