Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia has lent a helping hand to a Vietnam veteran in need.
Two Mr. Handyman franchises came together to help improve the home of a Vietnam veteran and his disabled wife. Mr. Handyman Northern Virginia and Mr. Handyman Fairfax and Eastern Loudoun donated more than 300 hours of staff time to carry out repairs and maintenance on military veteran Joe Saitta’s house to celebrate the National Day of Service.
After sustaining bad wounds during his service in the Vietnam war, Saitta struggled to keep his home up together. His wife Sarah is also disabled, after surviving cancer and suffering with nerve damage in her legs. So, to help the decorated veteran enjoy his home once again, the home improvement franchise stepped in to offers its services. Its staff worked their magic and repaired the rear deck, power washed his drive, landscaped the garden, installed a front porch and renovated Sarah’s bathroom to allow her to shower safely.
The generous donation of time by Mr. Handyman was to commemorate 9/11, aiming to honour and remember victims and survivors of the terror attack by turning the day into a positive occasion that helps those in need in each community. The franchise has encouraged its franchisees to donate their staff’s time for the last decade, estimating its donated more than 7,000 hours of labour to help people in local communities.
Mr. Handyman President, J. B. Sassano, explained why the franchise encourages its franchisees to donate their time.
“Our brand is made up of local entrepreneurs who thrive in their communities. This campaign allows our franchisees to band together to give back to the local communities that they serve every day, especially during this time when we are honouring the lives and memories of 9/11 heroes. We look forward to bringing people together all across the nation for a positive cause.”
