Leisure Leagues reflects on a decade of wins

Leisure Leagues has been looking back on a fantastic ten years for the business as a new decade begins.

The 2010s were full of exciting events all across the world and Leisure Leagues enjoyed its fair share of wins during the decade. In a lengthy blog post, it reflected on some of the highlights from the last 10 years.

At the start of the decade, in 2010, the sports franchise rolled out its franchise model and welcomed its first franchise partner, Steve Hogan of Chester. By 2014, it had grown to become the largest operator of five and six-a-side football leagues in the UK.

Emboldened by its success, Leisure Leagues branched out across the pond in the same year. By 2016, having expanded its operations through franchising to countries including Pakistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia, Leisure Leagues introduced its brand new website. This allowed players across the world to access things such as Player Cards and results notifications at the click of a button.

In 2017, Leisure Leagues set a world record for the largest crowd for a 6-a-side football match. The fun event featured footballing royalty including Ryan Giggs, Robert Pires, Luis Boa Morte, Nicholas Anelka, Ronaldinho and David James. This was also the year that the franchise’s first ever ‘Partner Seminar’ event was hosted in Birmingham, which gave Leisure Leagues’ franchisees the chance to share best practices with one another and pick up top tips from the head office team too.

Other fantastic events that the franchise named as highlights of the decade included:

• The launch of ‘Netball Leagues’
• 32 nation small-side World Cup, held in Lisbon, Portugal
• Small-side champions league events
