Drain Doctor shares dishwasher expertise with customers

The plumbing franchise recently broke down the three main reasons why dishwashers don’t drain, from dirty filters to damage and blockage.
Drain Doctor provided some more expert advice to its customers via its website recently, as the drainage and plumbing franchise detailed the three most common reasons that dishwashers start failing to drain.
Reason one was that the filters might be dirty. Drain Doctor said, “If your dishwasher won’t drain, the first thing you should do is check your filter.” This is because “filters trap soggy food particles and prevent excess food and grease from being redeposited within the dishwasher”. To prevent this, Drain Doctor recommends cleaning dishwasher filters at least once every two weeks.
Reason two was that the drain hose might have become blocked. In the franchise’s words, “The drain hose is an essential component of any dishwasher as it carries dirty water away from the appliance. It is usually connected to the same drain line as the kitchen sink.” This drain line “could be clogged with built-up grime and food debris, or may be kinked”. Customers can clean this hose by disconnecting it from the sink and dishwasher, but might be better off calling a Drain Doctor professional for support if they think a blocked drain hose is the issue.
Similarly, Drain Doctor can help with reason three - the drain pump might be damaged. Like a dishwasher filter, a drain pump “can easily be blocked by leftover food particles and built-up grease”. Plus, “Foreign objects, such as broken glass, can also easily slip into the drain pump and prevent [it] from working.” If the problem is in the drain pump, customers will likely be able to hear it struggling and consult a Drain Doctor expert for support, as checking it can be a complex process.
