Residents of Kingsclere in Hampshire will have the opportunity to brush up on their First Aid skills in two workshops later this month.
The sessions follow and promote the installation of a defibrillator outside the Bluebird Care offices at Kingsclere Business Park. In collaboration with Headstart, which forms part of the British Heart Foundation and provides training schemes teaching emergency life saving skills, Bluebird Care hopes to equip more people with the skills to save a life.
Attendees will learn essential First Aid techniques, including how to recognise the need for medical attention, perform CPR on an adult or child, put someone into the recovery position, and use public Automatic Emergency Defibrillators (AEDs).
Phil Miles, Director of the homecare franchise, Bluebird Care, believes that the combination of the newly-installed defibrillator and the First Aid classes will go a long way towards helping people in the local area during an emergency.
“We are delighted to be able to provide these valuable resources as part of our contribution to the local community,” Miles stated. “We strongly believe that basic first aid knowledge is a really important skill and hope what we are offering will enable more people to have equipment, knowledge and confidence in an emergency situation.”
The programme will be led by a specialist instructor and by the end of the class, attendees will possess enough skills to gain a Level 3 Certificate in Emergency First Aid at Work. The sessions will take place on 22nd January and last an hour, starting at 5:30pm and 6:45pm.
Founded in 2004 by Lisa and Paul Tarsey, Bluebird Care has more than 200 offices across the UK and Republic of Ireland, and carries out almost eight million homecare visits every year, equalling over 22,000 visits per day, ranging from 30 minute calls to continuous live-in support.
